So, here it is: I’m going back to Blogger. I know, I know. I emphatically set myself against Blogger (did I even say “hate”?) not too long ago but, simply put, I am a techno-dork and WordPress is TOOOOOoo difficult for me. I hadn’t deleted my original blog and I’ve gone back and re-posted EVERY post that I had on this site. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out how to re-post your wonderful comments…and I like comments…a LOT…in fact, I think I ultimately write for the thrill of receiving comments…but no pressure…I can live without them…

I posted a few weeks ago about our first girl scout meeting, but there wasn’t any news to share since Sydney hadn’t decided yet if she wanted to do it (I’d given her the choice between Girl Scouts and swimming lessons…a tough choice for her…). However, when she heard that her good friend Amelie was doing it, she was in wholeheartedly.

We had our first Daisy Troop meeting (isn’t that an ADORABLE name for a little, girly, kindergarten group of any sort?!?!) tonight and it was pretty fun. I met some super sweet moms and think I’ll probably like going just as much as her. However, the BIG NEWS…the earth-shattering, hopping-up-and-down worthy, pinch-me-I’m-(almost)-in-heaven NEWS…is that even the teeny-tiny, super cutie-pie Daisies will be selling the world famous Girl Scout cookies this year…Thin Mints and Carmel Yummies (don’t know the real name for that one!) here I…whoops! I mean, SHE…comes!!!

SOOOOOoooooo, if you have a special affinity for Miss Sydney (ie. related in ANY sort of way) well then you’d better reserve some Girl Scout Cookie lovin’ for her! Now I know that there will be a great many temptations be it at work, school, at your front door when some cutie-pie Brownie (that’s the only other troop ID I know!) comes a’knockin’…but you just remember this sweet little girl that you love so much and her poor Mom who somehow got suckered into being the co-Cookie Mom (yes…a TRUE title and a TRUE leadership position!) and put the breaks on going overboard on your ordering from anyone else! If you’re going to go overboard…please…overboard this way! Ok, ok, I’m kidding! (About the suckered part, not the overboard part. I mean, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY offered to help and am really hoping that there is a free Thin Mints cookie bonus for the Cookie Mom co-chair!)

Ok, really and truly, I am kidding. Order your Thin Mints from whomever you want. Seriously, I don’t mind. No, for real. I don’t mind at all. Believe me. It’s true. Do what you want. Just don’t expect me to share MY box!

How cool is that?

I know I’ve mentioned Sydney’s obsession (and recognize the fact that this is not exactly original in our culture today) with Hannah Montana. A few months ago she got her first (well…only, actually) Hannah Montana CD (thanks Aunt Steffie) and immediately fell in love with Best of Both Worlds. Along with that, Patrick and I got a new/refurb camera with a little video camera on it…and we were obsessed with that! It’s SO easy!!! Put those two things together and whatdya get? This…

There’s this great Tax Free Weekend in Missouri right before the school year starts where everything school related is free of sales tax. So you can save a nice little chunk a’ change on clothes, school supplies, LAPTOPS, etc. I know, I know…she’s a little young for her very own, teeny tiny, super cute Mac…but I’ll just hold on to it for a few years. No worries.

So, I was all excited and got her some fall and winter clothes, as well as school supplies, etc. And THANK HEAVENS I didn’t go overboard, as I tend to do, because the other day she put on some of her new, super cute jeans that, just two months ago, had AT LEAST two inches to spare in the length…and they were TOOOOOOOOO SHOOOOORRRRRRRRT!!! I about fell over. I’m not just talking short, like, skimming-the-top-of-her-shoes short. I’m talking barely-keeping-her-kneecaps-warm short! Again, I about fell over! I’ve got one fast growin’, long legged (thanks Patrick!), spunky (thanks Lindsey…ha!), singin’ (Patrick ), dancin’ (hum…me, again ) chickadee on my hands

Lately, Sydney is in to singing everything. Call it her “Hannah Montana” phase (like 95% of little girls in America right now). From requests to go outside to expressing her sweet, sweet adoration of ice cream…everything comes in song. It’s hilarious and quite brilliant, I might add. Well, today she wanted to send an email to her little friends, Addie and Lillie, who live in Colorado. About halfway through the email she decided to sing them a song. I typed it out, but it just wasn’t the same. So, thanks to my friendly (when I’m not cussing at it…shhhhh) MacBook and a little thing called Photo Booth, we caught her song-letter on video. It’s to Addie and Lil, but I hope you enjoy it as well!

Here is an older video that I decided to post…now that I know how and don’t want to curse all of technology because I’ve spent 24 hours of my life (per video!!!) just trying to get it from You Tube to my blog!!! I mean, now that Patrick showed me how to do the exact same thing that I did about 400 times…but now it works. That’s the story of me, technology, and my husband. I do something. It doesn’t work. He does the same thing. It works. GRRRRRrrrrrr.

Sydney: “Mom, did you know that Hannah Montana is like God’s helper because she reminds us that nobody’s perfect? Only God is perfect. And everyone makes mistakes but God. So, it’s like she’s His helper and tells us something.”

Mom (giggling): “Well, I guess she has told us something that’s pretty true.”

Sydney: “Yep. Nobody’s perfect, Mom.”

I think Syd’s’s going to be a pretty great grace giver.

So GREAT!

Here is a little conversation Sydney and I had today as we were walking home from a friend’s house.

Sydney: “Mom, my feet hurt. Can we try the talking trick?” (The talking trick is purposefully having a conversation that will take her mind off of something else. She agrees that it works every time).

Me: “Sure, what do you want to talk about?”

Syd: “Well, let’s see….we could…weeeellllllllll…..hum. Let’s see. I know. I’d like for you to tell me why God is perfect and people are not.”

Me: chuckle a little…”Wellll…” and so begins a stumble through age-appropriate theology. Not sure how much she got, but I tried to converse in a way that is from my heart and understandable. She listened for a while and then, mid-sentence…

Syd: “Mom…can I run ahead of you to Nana’s house?”

And so the conversation was over…but sweet for a moment.
